I find circular catting a bit annoying that is all. If I can come up with a good technical reason for it I will otherwise I am not really fussed. - π 03:26, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

From an outsider's perspective, I agree with Π. What's the point of having a "See also" scenario on both categories. It's like the old joke "How keep and idiot occupied: turn over." You turn over the page, and it reads, "How to keep and idiot occupied: turn over."The Goonie 1 (talk) 03:31, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
I'm not sure what I reverted, of course, it being that time of night, but there's no problem with two cats being "in" each other. Like my edit comment, it ain't a tree, it's a web. But if I made things ugly again, please feel free to school me. Oh, and if someone keeps clicking back and forth between the two cats, well... at least we've "occupied" them? ħumanUser talk:Human 03:47, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
I remember struggling with this issue (probably to myself before). The evaluating arguments, logic, assessing pseudoscience and cognitive bias categories are all a bit complicated. I take blame for the evaluating arguments one, as it was I who came up with it as an umbrella term back in 07(!), and I know we didn't agree then. It's never been clear to me what's distinctive about assessing pseudoscience. So I dunno, basically, what to do. Sterile oxide 02:30, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Might not be here but...[edit]

what's the fallacy of finding some random kook to quote on a forum and acting like that is representative?--Barryjon (talk) 18:57, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

Probably a subset of the appeal to authority, perhaps even an appeal to false authority. Though, it's different in that rather than using it to support something as true, it's using it to support something as a consensus. Shadow of Lords talk 19:37, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
Nutpicking/cherry picking? More of a (bad) practice than a fallacy, though.--ZooGuard (talk) 19:42, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
Nutpicking - that's the one. thanks. I knew I had read it somewhere on here--Barryjon (talk) 19:57, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

DPL error message[edit]

What's up with the high priority articles on the portal page? ·Femilisk 08:52, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

It's supposed to pull a sample from a category that's populated by the article priority template put on talk pages. Since certain people dislike the template and the others don't care, it gets removed a lot. So the source category is empty.--ZooGuard (talk) 09:04, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
